BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION

Full-time (Chinese staff) as well as Day-Rate (non-Chinese nationals) contract positions are immediately available working onboard one of the SBSS, Panamanian registered, cable ships.

The Fourth and Third Engineers are members of the Engineering Department reporting to the Second Engineer. He/She will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of allocated machinery and equipment. On a daily basis, both positions assist with the overhaul, maintenance and survey of the ships engineering plant. Accurate logging of tasks into logbooks, record books and electronic planned maintenance systems is a frequent duty, as is the reporting of as-found defects. Compliance with both statutory and company engineering watch-keeping guidelines is expected.

YOUR PROFILE

We are looking for realistic, independent, stable, persistent, genuine, practical, thrifty and enthusiastic individuals.

You will hold a minimum of a Panamanian 3rd or 4th Engineer Certificate of Competency (CoC) - or Certificate of Equivalent Competency (CEC) - valid for over 3,000 KW.

You will have a minimum of six months experience in the position applied for.

A good command of both written and oral English is essential.

You will hold both offshore medical and offshore STCW survival certificates.

WHAT WE ARE OFFERING

For Chinese nationals, a competitive annual salary with voyage commissions typically of twelve to sixteen week duration. On board commissions are followed by a period of six to eight weeks of paid leave. Also, an annual bonus, company pension scheme and all normal Shanghai state social welfare arrangements and insurances. For the right candidates promotion prospects are good, as is the opportunity to come ashore to work in our Shanghai office when a suitable vacancy arises.

For non-Chinese nationals, both short or long-term day rate contracts are available that are negotiable in their content.
