Message from our Managing Director regarding the SBSS response to the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic

03 Apr, 2020

As a marine service provider operating globally, S.B. Submarine Systems Co Ltd (SBSS) would like to share with our customers, partners and vendors the measures we are taking in response to COVID-19.

SBSS is focused on supporting government guidance in the effort to reduce the spread of COVID-19, whilst ensuring the impact on our business is minimized. Our senior management team has been meeting at least weekly, since mid-January 2020, to review the SBSS action plans and make adjustments where appropriate to address the ever-changing conditions.

Our Operations

The safety and wellbeing of our office staff and our offshore crew has always been at the core of our business and is the number one priority for us during the COVID-19 pandemic period. Measures have been taken to limit the potential risk and reinforce our commitment to QHSE.

April 2020 has seen a much improved situation in China and our office-based and Wujing depot employees are now back to a normal work routine. Business travel within China is being reviewed and approved on a case-by-case basis. For the time being, all overseas business travel remains temporarily suspended.

For our offshore operations, we have increased the health and safety standards across our fleet with measures that include regulated crew shift policy, strict hygiene procedures, sufficient protective equipment provision and a daily health condition report regime.

Our Customers

Through this difficult time, SBSS understands that the stability of global connectivity is more important than ever. SBSS is dedicated to providing uninterrupted services to our customers whilst not violating governmental regulations or compromising QHSE standards. Therefore, the following measures are being taken to ensure that projects can continue to progress in a timely manner -

-Close monitoring of the latest port regulation notices for all ports visited

-Maintaining a constant dialogue with our clients such that there is a full understanding of official and local protocol for our offshore staff entering foreign jurisdictions during the course of our work

-The production of robust plans to ensure the smoothness of port calls

With 25 years’ experience in offshore business, SBSS is confident in navigating the new challenges that the COVID-19 pandemic presents. We have been able to draw on our experience from 2003 during the SARS outbreak to produce what we believe to be sound and safe procedures.
