SBSS Appoints Mr. Ian Douglas as Senior Advisor – International Business and Strategy

S. B. Submarine Systems (SBSS) is delighted to announce the appointment of Ian Douglas as Senior Advisor – International Business and Strategy, effective September 1, 2026.

Ian brings more than 30 years of global leadership and executive experience across subsea telecommunications, marine infrastructure, offshore energy, M&A, and international strategy. Widely recognized as a prominent industry leader, he has cultivated long-standing relationships with telecom cable owners, hyperscalers, system suppliers, marine contractors, and global infrastructure investors.

Over three decades, Ian Douglas has led or participated in multiple industry-changing mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures worldwide. His distinguished career spans senior leadership across global subsea telecommunications and marine infrastructure enterprises, including founding new ventures and guiding international organizations at the highest level.

Alongside these industry achievements, Ian shares a deep and enduring connection with SBSS, having served as Managing Director from 2002 to 2007 and as a member of the SBSS Board for 22 years. He successfully diversified SBSS’s operations into oil and gas, and power cables, while securing major projects and strengthening cooperation with Global Marine Group, positioning SBSS as the showcase for Global Marine’s capabilities across the Asia-Pacific region. 

In his new role, Ian will work closely with our executive leadership team and Board of Directors. Leveraging his global market intelligence, extensive executive network, and strategic insight, he will provide counsel on international positioning, customer engagement, strategic partnerships, major bid submissions, and long-term corporate growth initiatives.
