BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION

Full-time (Chinese staff) as well as Day-Rate (non-Chinese nationals) contract positions are immediately available.

Working onboard one of the SBSS cable ships, the Subsea Pilot is a member of the Subsea team reporting to the Senior Subsea Engineer. He/She will be capable, under supervision and instruction, of piloting trenching ROV’s and cable ploughs, carrying out submersible tool handling procedures as and when required. The Subsea Pilot will also be intimate with all aspects of subsea systems repair and maintenance being involved in these activities when not carrying out piloting duties.

YOUR PROFILE

We are looking for enthusiastic and talented team players.

Previous experience as a Subsea Engineer or Subsea Pilot is expected.

A good command of both written and oral English is essential.

You will hold both offshore medical and offshore survival certificates.

You will understand the fundamental principles of occupational safety and health as they apply to shipboard life as well as the operation and maintenance of submersible vehicles and the associated handling systems.

You will be familiar with basic subsea spread maintenance and subsea vehicle repair, being able to interpret drawings and the recording of spares usage. You will be familiar with submersible spread HV electrical power, complex hydraulic systems and mechanical matters.

A working knowledge of Permits to Work and COSHH is essential.

Familiarity with Marsoft would be an advantage.

You will likely enjoy problem-solving and have an attention to detail. You will be proficient in the use of computers. You will have already undertaken Basic ROV Training and may hold an IMCA recognized Pilot Technician qualification.

WHAT WE ARE OFFERING

For Chinese nationals, a competitive annual salary with voyage commissions, typically of twelve to sixteen week duration, followed by a period of six to eight weeks of paid leave. Plus annual bonus, company pension and all normal Shanghai state social welfare arrangements and insurances.

For non-Chinese nationals, both short or long-term day rate contracts are available that are negotiable in their content.
