Statement on the Wall Street Journal Article

We notice that the Wall Street Journal’s website published an article entitled "U.S. Fears Undersea Cables Are Vulnerable to Espionage From Chinese Repair Ships " at 11am Beijing time on 19th May 2024. This article contains a number of factually incorrect and subjective assumptions regarding S. B. Submarine Systems Co., Ltd. (hereinafter as SBSS). SBSS hereby declare as follows:

SBSS specialize in the installation and maintenance of submarine cable with focus on international commercial projects. With thirty years’ experience in international operations, SBSS have always adhered to the principles of honesty and transparency and have gained the respect and recognition of global customers and partners. The company strictly complies with relevant laws and regulations, international practices and industry standards, and daily operations are in line with the regulations set by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and other relevant authorities. We oppose the generalization of a national security concept to suppress and discredit our company.

In the future, SBSS will continue to adhere to the law and regulations when operating, working with our partners to promote the development of international submarine cables.
